The 916 before and after

First I’d like o show some pictures, as she was when I got her. I love this bike, I could sit in the garage for hours and just stare at her. My wife thinks I’m nuts, but to own a Ducati is different than other bike. Sure some say it’s not the most advanced and doesn’t have the latest fuel injection system, but there’s a soul in this bike that cant be explained till you own one. If one of these bikes has ever been a dream of yours to own as it was mine, I highly recommend pulling the trigger and picking one up. You will not be sorry!

The rebuilding of this bike from the ground up has truly been a labor of love. As you can see in the pages before, I took this bike down to every last bolt and bearing. Every piece has been inspected, cleaned, replaced if necessary and sometimes, if not necessary, as I am just ridiculously picky. Total project time was 11 months, and to be honest I can not even estimate the amount of hours spent working on her or the beers consumed with friends visiting to see the progress. It’s been a wonderful journey that I have to admit I was a little nervous about taking before I removed the first bolt. I could not be happier with the final results.  I have loved this bike from the day I brought her home and now she has a look and feel that exceeds all of my expectations. I do have some people I want to thank for making this project run smoothly.

Without further adu, I give you the final project.

I took it out for the first time since last season today after finishing some fine tuning and what a ride it was. I gotta admit seeing her sitting in the driveway for the first time all dressed up I got a little emotional, 11 months of hard work was sitting there in it’s pristine glory and I could not have been prouder. I am very happy with the final result. I hope you enjoyed reading all of this and following along with it. I hope it encourages some of you reading this to take on a rewarding project like this. If your working on one of these and have any questions feel free to drop me a line, I have probably dealt with whatever part you are fighting on one of these and I’d be happy to give you any advice or tips I have.

Thanks for viewing.
